Roxborough Business Exchange Christmas Tree Lighting

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

The area’s newest group of business professionals invites neighbors, customers and friends to its second annual Christmas party and tree lighting.

The Dec. 4 party, hosted by the Roxborough Business Exchange, will be held at the Lyceum Wellness Center, 445 Lyceum Ave. Festivities begin with neighborhood caroling at 6 p.m., followed an hour later by the lighting of the center’s enormous Christmas tree. Food, drink and music will follow. And, of course, Santa is expected to pay a visit during the party.

Admission to the event is one non-perishable food item to benefit the North Light Community Center.

Chiropractor, Bill Pezzello, and acupuncturist, David Schiman, founded the Roxborough Business Exchange in 2008 to champion the community by promoting its businesses. The group has grown to dozens of members working in fields ranging from pet sitting to banking.

Group members provide a network of support and referrals to each other in growing and marketing their businesses, while promoting the Roxborough, Manayunk, Andorra and East Falls communities. A large part of the group’s activities focus on organizing and sponsoring local service events, such as, its successful Spring Cleanup.

Anit-Green Dirty Laundry

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Perkasie, Pennsylvania (based on an AP news release) — Although it is environmentally responsible to dry clothing by hanging it out on a line, many local municipalities and homeowner’s associations are attempting to ban the practice.

There are no laws in Perkasie against drying laundry outside; however, a town official called Carin Froehlich and ask her to stop drying clothes in the sun. She received two anonymous notes from neighbors saying they did not want to see her underwear flapping about.

“They said it made the place look like trailer trash. They said they didn’t want to look at my ‘unmentionables.’”

“If my husband has a right to have guns in the house, I have a right to hang laundry,” said Froehlich, who is writing a book on the subject.

PA Governor’s Race

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

We can all breathe happier now that Sam Rohrer has announced his candidacy for Governor. Our country has provided to us the rights and ability to place in positions of power the men and women who best represent us. Finally, we can be proud to elect a strong and successful activist to Governor in Sam Rohrer. No more wasteful incompetent ideologies, but instead a confident commitment to the principle of freedom. Mr. Rohrer will provide leadership and fulfill the government’s duty to citizens and our families. This is an opportunity to reform our state, and offer a unique vision on how to move forward. I, for one, am ecstatic. — Ryan Borek

Candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania

Monday, November 16th, 2009

YORK, Pennsylvania (November 13th, 2009) – In a statement released by his campaign manager, Robert Mansfield made his public announcement for his run for Governor of Pennsylvania in the 2010 election.

The public announcement was held on the steps of the Capitol building in Harrisburg on Saturday, November 14th at noon. “Members of the press and public were invited to attend the address and they made accommodations to answer as many questions as possible.” said Shane Louthian, his campaign manager.

As a Pennsylvania National Guardsman and small businessman, Robert Mansfield still serves with the Wounded Warrior Battalion and takes his oath to protect, preserve and defend, seriously. Noting that the people of Pennsylvania believe in a free society, as well as, a free market, the combined ideals of both create a free market of ideas. “While the leaders of the Republican Party attempt to restrict this election and will not fight for the people of Pennsylvania, then I have no choice but to step up and fight for the people of Pennsylvania; this is my constitutional obligation,” said Sergeant Mansfield.
